Arrests Made After Serious Assault
Police arrested a woman and two teenage boys following an assault in Sherwood Way last Friday. The victim, a man in his 40s, was treated in hospital and has been discharged.
The suspects, a 40-year-old woman and two boys aged 15 and 16, were arrested the same evening and bailed until October 7. Police are appealing for any additional witnesses to come forward.
Sinkhole Disrupts Tunbridge Wells Road
A sinkhole has appeared in Culverden Down. Kent County Council have put barriers and traffic cones around it.
The council confirmed the sinkhole, first reported on May 14, showed no signs of a water leak. Repairs began on May 21. The road, near three schools and accessed from the A26, has seen property prices drop 48% in the past year.
New Barn Homes Unveiled
The first 'barn homes' at The Russetts, a 71-property development in Hawkhurst, have been unveiled.
Developer Dandara plans to complete the 10 four-bedroom houses by next May. These homes combine traditional and modern designs with sustainable features.
The project was approved on appeal in January 2022. It faced resident objections related to the impact on natural beauty. The development includes extensive public open spaces, play facilities and a meadow.
Solar Farm Plan for Staplehurst
Renewable Connections Developments has submitted a plan for a 56-acre solar farm. The proposal plans for the farm in Staplehurst.
The company aims to build an 18MW plant on farmland west of Goudhurst Road. including infrastructure like inverters, transformers, and security features.
Sheep grazing could continue on the land. The project, named Mathurst Solar Farm, aims to power up to 6,040 homes and support climate goals. Consultations were held in 2022, and the application is also being reviewed by Maidstone Borough Council.
