Nando's Opening in Tunbridge Wells
The former Gateway building is set to become a Nando's. This location will be near Greggs, Caffe Nero, and Costa Coffee.
The building, which once housed a McDonald's, was leased for £90,000 annually. Local fans will finally be able to enjoy the peri-peri chicken.
Giggling Squid Relocating in Tunbridge Wells
The Giggling Squid on Calverlery Road is upgrading. It's moving to the former Havet location on Mount Pleasant Road. The new site will feature a pastel green and white facade and a dining area with 58 covers.
Giggling Squid is a restaurant chain, founded by Pranee and Andy to bring a Thai buzz to the UK. Plans to move the kitchen to the first floor and add new mechanical equipment. The move will employ 20 staff members.
70,000 Fined on Kent Road
Tunbridge Wells Council has fined 70k+ drivers since April 2023. The fines are due to restrictions on traffic on Mount Pleasant Road between 09:00 and 18:00.
We've previously written about the motorists who successfully appealed fines, citing unclear signage. The council aims to improve the town for pedestrians and cyclists and has upgraded signs to raise awareness.
Police Tackle Anti-Social Behaviour
Kent Police continue to address anti-social behaviour in Tunbridge Wells. Their focus is on retail parks and the town centre. Officers are conducting proactive patrols, working with businesses, and providing crime prevention advice.
Efforts include increased a police presence and community engagement. They're seeking to prevent offences like nuisance driving and shoplifting. High-visibility patrols also addressed concerns about anti-social motorbike use in Clifton Road, Sherwood.
