Gas Leak Road Disruption Continues

Roadworks on Pembury Road continue. SGN engineers continue to work to identify and repair a gas leak near Halls Hole Road. The duration of the work is still unknown due to the complexity of repair. Thick road surfaces and nearby utility pipes are increasing the time engineers will need.

Traffic lights and road closures remain, disrupting commuters and the number six bus. SGN have said the work is essential for safety.

Tories Choose Their Candidate

What Happened: The Tories have selected their candidate for Tunbridge Wells. The local party chose Neil Mahapatra, a 44-year-old buisnessman. Mahapatra is a Kent-born Oxford graduate who beat out two other candidates. Tunbridge Wells' previous MP, Greg Clark is stepping down after 19 years in the role.

Other candidates for the seat include:

  • Hugo Pound (Labour)
  • Mike Martin (Liberal Democrat)
  • John Gager (Reform UK)
  • Hassan Kassan (Independent)
  • John Hurst (Green Party)

Extra info: @James_Rands on Twitter/X is reporting a small lie on Neil Mahapatra's website.

Convicted drug dealer, William Ferguson must repay over £300k under a court order. Ferguson, from Tunbridge Wells is serving a 13-year sentence. Using the EncroChat platform, he was apart of a large-scale cocaine network in Kent.

A court has determined he benefitted by £769,812 with his current assets totalling £311,007. He has three months to pay or will face a further three years in jail. Seized assets include funds from bank accounts and proceeds from auctioned designer items.

Live At The Pantiles Controls Explained

Manager of the event, Kami Paulson said they made the changes to improve safety and space management. Emphasising that this prevents overcrowding and improves the experience for all involved.
